October 24-27, 2019
China National GeneBank (CNGB), Shenzhen, China
Dear BGIers,
We are very delighted to welcome distinguished guests worldwide to participate in the 14th International Conference on Genomics (ICG-14) from October 24-27, 2019, which will be held in CNGB in Shenzhen, China.
ICG-14 is an open forum to envision future possibilities in genomic sciences and to demonstrate breathtaking innovations in high-throughput bio-analyzers. In the upcoming October, scientists from frontiers, innovators from laboratories and entrepreneurs from companies will all flock to Shenzhen and share their professional experiences to thousands of attendees through keynote speeches, topic symposia and product exhibitions.
Since 2006, ICG has been held successfully in the past 13 years in genomics field, which has invited thousands of top scientists from diverse areas in life science, including the Nobel Laureates and world-renowned scientists. With upholding the BGI tradition, ICG-14 advocates academic freedom, inspires insightful thought and encourages young growth in genomic world, which is what BGI has been pursuing for 20 years since its establishment in 1999.
When autumn arrives at Shenzhen, sunshine is still blazing but wind is always gently blowing; when fall comes to CNGB, newborn swan babies maintain soft and musical trumpeting voice in evening. All the scenes will surely enhance the joviality to your journey by attending ICG-14.

Come for ICG. Stay for Shenzhen.
Shenzhen is a major city in the south of Southern China's Guangdong Province, situated immediately north of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. The area became China's first - and one of the most successful - Special Economic Zones (SEZs). It currently also holds sub-provincial administrative status, with powers slightly less than a province.
Shenzhen's modern cityscape is the result of the vibrant economy made possible by rapid foreign investment since the institution of the policy of "reform and opening" establishment of the SEZ in late 1979, before which it was only a small village. Both Chinese citizens and foreign nationals have invested enormous amounts of money in the Shenzhen SEZ. More than US$30 billion in foreign investment has gone into both foreign-owned and joint ventures, at first mainly in manufacturing but more recently in the service industries as well.
Being southern mainland China's major financial center, Shenzhen is home to the Shenzhen Stock Exchange as well as the headquarters of numerous high-tech companies. Shenzhen is also one of the busiest container ports in the world.
Shenzhen weather in autumn from October is dry and cool. The temperature won't drop until December and it still remains around 20 C (68 F). A long-sleeved T-shirt and a light overcoat are enough for this season.
Renminbi Yuan (RMB). Credit cards and travelers checks are accepted widely, and many 24-hour ATMs are available in the area. See Currency Converter for details on current exchange rates.
Many Chinese businesses, though not all, only accept Renminbi Yuan (RMB). International currency exchanges are available at the airport and at all banks in the city. Major credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, American Express) are generally accepted.
Depending on your country of origin, you may also need a Visa for the Special Administrative Region of Hong Kong, if you travel to Shenzhen via Hong Kong. You may find visa information on the website http://www.immd.gov.hk/eng/services/index.html.
All overseas participants, except Chinese citizens, need a Chinese Visa to travel to China. You may find details about obtaining a Chinese Visa on the following website http://english.gov.cn/services/visitchina.
Any questions regarding visa application can be directed to the Chinese Visa Application Service Center on the website http://www.visaforchina.org.
